Richard (Dickie) M. Smith was born on August 15, 1951 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ernest and Clydene (Wallis) Smith. He passed away from this life on July 26, 2019 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Dickie graduated from McLoud High School in 1969. He received his bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he played baseball. He received his master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. Dickie first married Teresa (Rice) Smith of Maysville and later married Marla (Lindly) Smith on August 3, 1991 in McLoud, Oklahoma. His favorite past times were fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid Oklahoma Sooner Fan. Dickie taught and coached at McLoud, Tipton, Wellston, McLoud again, Geary, Chandler and Depew. Dickie had a passion for coaching; especially football, and was a caring person and mentor to many students that he taught and coached for 38 years. Dickie was preceded in death by his parents Ernest Smith and Clydene (Wallis) Stanfield and brother Carey Smith. He is survived by his spouse Marla Smith of the home, his sister Vickie Brown of Newalla, his son, Matthew Smith and wife Emily Smith of Lexington, Oklahoma and his two grandchildren: Gabe Smith and Abby Smith. And many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial Services will be Saturday, August 3rd, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Lexington, Oklahoma, 900 East Broadway Street 73051
