Meeker resident Robert Edward Goff, 72, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 in Shawnee. The family will be at Walker Funeral Service from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday to receive friends. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 7, 2017 at Fort Sill National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Folds of Honor, https://www.foldsofhonor.org, 5800 N. Patriot Drive, Owasso, OK 74055. He was born July 5, 1945 in Birmingham, Alabama to James Edward Goff and Hazel (Meeks) Goff. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1963. He served 5 years, much of that on foreign soil including Vietnam in 66’ and 67’ in the 25th Division and 4th Division. During that time the 25th Division was the largest in Vietnam with four Brigades under its command. In 1967 the 25th participated in two major operations conducted in Military Region III, Cedar Falls and Junction City. He received the Purple Heart on March 1, 1967 and was Honorably Discharged on October 12, 1968. He married Rose “Rosebud” (Kowalkowski) in October of 1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father: George Riley, Grandson: Christopher “Casey” Goff, brother: James Lewis Goff, 2 sister: Hazel Frances McNelis and Gail Poole. He is survived by 3 Children: Chris Goff and wife Lisa of McLoud, Kimberly Dowdle and husband David of McLoud, Jodi Goff-McGowan and husband Andy of Meeker; 14 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Brother: Gordon Goff and wife LaVonne of Florida, and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
