Robert Wayne Newton, age 81, of Shawnee died Tuesday, July 20, 2021 in an Oklahoma City hospital. Services have been set for Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM in Walker Funeral Service Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. He was diagnosed with bladder cancer, prostate cancer and skin cancer several years ago but always remained steadfast in his faith that the Lord will take care of him and He did! He conquered every cancer and gained a zest for life! Several years later his heart finally wore out, but his love for his family never did. He loved his family quietly but deeply, and loved his work because he loved providing for his family. Robert was born on February 8, 1940 in Shawnee to Daney DeLancy and Flora (Prevett) Newton. He attended schools in McLoud and graduated in the Class of 1958. Loved playing high school basketball. Working as a breadman, he made deliveries to a grocery store where Myra worked. They met, fell in love and got married. A year later they got into Sonic Drive-ins and became franchisees. He slept, ate and drank Sonic as it was his passion. He married Myra Walker on November 13, 1974. He is preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and sisters. Survived by: Wife: Myra of the home; daughter: Krystal Smith and husband Gary Smith of Shawnee; Son: Kevin Newton and his wife Alexis of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Grandchildren; Walker, Addison and Embrie Smith; & Vallory & Zander Newton; Sister: Mary Katherine Knowlin and her daughter Marella Mize and husband.
