Rosie Janice Miller, 88, of Shawnee, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at a local hospital surrounded by her family. Janice, as she preferred to be called, was born on December 23, 1932 to Jesse and Jessie May (Parsons) Chandler in Goree, Texas. She was the youngest of the 6 children. She married Harold J. Wilson in May of 1950 of which two daughters were born, Betty Janice Norton and Deborah Kay Bourbonnais. In 1978 she married James J. Miller. Jim predeceased Janice in 2015. She has missed him dearly. She and Jim loved to dance, especially square dancing and round dancing. They were members of the Square Eights for many years. Janice was an expert seamstress and she made all her square dance attire. She also enjoyed sewing for her kids, grandkids and great grandchildren. Janice worked at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church for 24 years as the church secretary. She loved interacting with the church community. After retirement, she and Jim loved to travel to Port Aransas, Texas where they enjoyed friends, played games and fished. Those left to cherish her memory are Betty Norton and Debbie Bourbonnais (Larry), her grandchildren, Heather Bradshaw (Robert), Stephen Taron (Brooke), Jason Bourbonnais (Zada) and Melissa Thompson (Tyler), her great-grandchildren, Addison, Broedy and Bryce Taron, Tucker and Elloize Bourbonnais and Stella Thompson, her special family friends, John Norton and Molly Price, as well as her fur baby, Maggie. A memorial service to celebrate Janice’s life will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church located at 501 North Broadway Ave, Shawnee, with Father Tom Dahlman officiating. Janice’s ashes will be interred at the Columbarium at the church. Walker Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
