Roy Dean Wood

In loving memory of Roy Dean Wood loving husband, father, and papaw. Roy was born in Winfield, Kansas on February 22, 1945 to his parents Roy L. Wood and Emma H. Wood. Roy was 78 when he passed on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He courageously served in the Army for 12 years then did two tours in Vietnam and served two more years in the Navy. On July 22, 1977 Roy Married the love of his life, Hyla, where they shared 45 years together residing in the Oklahoma City and Shawnee areas.

He enjoyed fishing, getting scratch offs, and trying to win the lottery. Roy was a Dallas Cowboys fanatic; he loved watching the game with his family. He also enjoyed old western shows especially ‘Gun Smoke’. His favorite thing to do was going to watch his grandkids sporting events.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy L. Wood and Emma H. Wood along with his brothers, John, Larry, Brian, and Kim Wood.

He is survived by his wife, Hyla Wood, sons, Roy, Mike, and James Wood, daughters, Kathy and Jackie Wood, grandchildren, Chase, Tierney, Haley, Austin, Jarron, Kelsie, Mikey, and Hopelynn, great-grandchildren, Roman, Maeze, and Sadie as well as numerous members of extended family and friends.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army.
