Sally Jo Jett passed away on August 24th, 2021 at the age of 77 in Shawnee, Oklahoma with family in her son’s home. Sally was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Edward and Ann Vallandingham. She graduated from Fremont High School in Iowa in 1962. She attended college in Missouri, Virginia, and Oklahoma; ultimately earning her Master’s degree. She was married for 36 years to Jimmy Dale Jett, and 9 years to Terry Jackson. Most of her adult life was spent in the nursing profession. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, a Registered Nurse, and a Nurse Practitioner. Her entire career and her years after retirement were spent caring for others. She delighted in exploring nature, traveling, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She loved reading her Bible, attending church when she was able, and her Sunday School classes. She was an excellent chef, and loved teaching her children and grandchildren how to cook. Some of her fondest memories were of the many years she lived in Alaska, spending time there in the outdoors with her family, and enjoying her favorite dishes of fresh seafood. She is survived by her son Brad and Teresa Jett of Shawnee, OK; and daughter Becky and Joe Simkins of Wasilla, AK. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jamie, Justin, Robert, Jennifer, Hannah, David and Rachel; 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sally is survived by three brothers and their wives Bill and Karen, Terry and Shelly, and Tim and Pam Vallandingham, and Sister Judy Bolt. She is preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, and her brother Jack. A memorial service for Sally will be held on Saturday, August 28th, 2021, at 6:00 pm at University Baptist Church, 2515 N. Kickapoo, in Shawnee, OK. There will also be a live-stream available through the YouTube Channel of University Baptist Church, Shawnee OK (www.ubcshawnee.org) Sally’s family requests that all attending wear masks. In honor of Sally’s legacy of supporting Christian missions, the family request memorial donations be sent to the missions organization of your choice, or the missions outreach of your local church.
