Sandra Lou Johnson

January 13, 1942 — February 10, 2023

Shawnee

Sandra Lou Johnson, resident of Shawnee, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023. She was 81 years old. Sandra was born on January 13, 1942 in Chandler, OK to Harold and Clara Eyestone. Sandra attended Victor, a two-room country school northeast of Chandler, completing eight grades in seven years. She attended Chandler High School and graduated with the Class of 1959. After high school, she began working at the Union National Bank of Chandler before moving to Shawnee in October 1960.

Sandra was not only a loving, devoted wife, daughter, and "sis", but also an awesome mother to David, Randal, and Tim and Gma J to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1969, she became a Stanley home product sales rep rising quickly as a unit leader in sales. She met and exceeded most of the goals set for her. Due to her health, she began limiting her Stanley career in 1981 and went to work for Greene's dress shop. She later began working in the Pottawatomie County treasurer's office, retiring after 22 years in 2004.

From the very beginning of her life, Sandra attended church with her parents and grandparents. In the little free time they had away from farm chores, she and her brother would "play church." She was the church pianist and her brother was the preacher to their small congregation of dogs, dolls, chickens, and later, little sister. In the "real-world" church setting, she was a church board member, missions' secretary/treasurer, Sunday school board member, ladies' ministry leader, and involved in organizing baby and wedding showers. She also served as a children's church worker, Sunday school class treasurer, and district assembly delegate for over 25 years.

She loved people, and once a friendship was made, it lasted a lifetime. Some met Sandra as a child in church, and school, as a young mother involved in the boy's school activities, through selling Stanley home products or collecting property taxes. Many of these friendships span generations.

Sandra is survived by her son, David Johnson (Lynette) of North Dakota, son, Randal Johnson of Shawnee, daughter-in-law, Stacey Johnson of Shawnee, sister, Gloria Neer (Mike) of Sallisaw, OK, grandchildren, Lyndsey Johnson of Shawnee, Ramsey Johnson (Larael) of Georgia, Brooke Black (Emily) of Shawnee, Stuart Johnson (Ali) of Colorado, Dylan Johnson (Michelle) of Moore, OK, great-grandchildren, Alias Johnson, Zailey and Zander Black, Dakota and Weston Keppel, and Isaiah Eades as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne Johnson, her son, Tim Johnson, and her brother, Jimmy Eyestone.
