Sandra Gail VanZant passed .away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 in the comfort of her home in Shawnee, Oklahoma at the age of 69. Sandra was loved immensely by many and proud to call herself a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mentor and friend. Sandra was born on April 15, 1949 in Poteau, Oklahoma. She grew up in Poteau with her mother Chloe Loueaster Smith, father, Voyd Ray Smith and two sisters, Frances and Mary. Sandra was a loyal employee of Express Employment Professionals for 35 years. Beginning her career as an administrative assistant, with hard work, loyalty and dedication to her job Sandra worked her way through the ranks and retired as a Vice President of the company. Sandra had a passion for helping others, and that shined through in her work. She loved the work that she did ' and the connections she made at Express. Especially noteworthy is the strong bond she developed with her friend and mentor, Bob Funk. Throughout her life, Sandra's hobbies included traveling, shopping, cooking, and spending time with her friends and family. Sandra had an unwavering faith in God that was present within her until the day that she passed away. Sandra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Raymond George VanZant. Sandra and RG were blessed with two sons, Mark Wayne Hampton and Robert Brent VanZant. Sandra is survived by her son and daughter in law Mark and Kristy Hampton of Shawnee andgranddaughters Taryn Hampton and Kristin Wollam. She is also survived by her sisters Frances Dees and Mary Butler. Sandra's numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends will always remember her fondly. She is preceded in death by her husband RG VanZant, son Robert Brent VanZant, brother in laws George Dees and Terry Butler, mother Chloe Smith, and father Voyd Smith. The family of Sandra VanZant is especially thankful for the work of Dr. Tony Haddad. We will forever be grateful for the loving care and attention he provided Sandra over the years. A memorial service for Sandra will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
