Shearon Gay Towery, 76, of Shawnee, passed away on Monday, July 22 at a local hospital. Shearon, the daughter of T.W. and Alma (Felts) Ford, was born on December 12, 1942 in Sidney Arkansas. She attended schools in Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma, and got her degree in nursing at Seminole State College. Shearon was an RN and worked in long term care facilities for many years. She was a member of the Oak Park Church of God and of DAVA. Shearon enjoyed crocheting, reading and playing solitaire and you would usually find a western movie, Wheel of Fortune or the news playing on the television while she was doing one of those activities. Shearon was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Towery; parents; her grandparents; a brother, Thomas Ford; her step father, Lawrence Enochs and by her special friend and companion, Monte “Jack” Sellers. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Michael Swanner Sr and his wife, Michelle of Tecumseh; daughter and son-in-law Regina Daniel and Michael of Shawnee; special granddaughter, Shala Swanner of the home; Step daughter Tammy Nitz of Shawnee; two grandsons, Michael Swanner Jr and Jeremy Swanner, of Tecumseh; a granddaughter, Felicia Goodnight of Shawnee; three great grandsons, six great granddaughters; brother and sister-in-law Warren and Nancy Ford of Meeker; an uncle, Luther Felts of Little Rock, Ark.; 5 nieces and several cousins; her dear cousin, Bill High of Shawnee; one half-brother, Jimmy Ford of Colorado Springs, Co; two half-sisters Tommie Joe Berry of Syracuse NY and Brenda Stone of Colorado Springs, Co; step-brother, Jimmy Enochs of Bethel and step sister Pam Fennell of Shawnee; and her dog Boomer. Funeral services will be Monday, July 29, at 11:00 AM, at the Walker Funeral Chapel, in Shawnee, with Ken Kerbo officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery.
