Shirley Jolene King

Shirley Jolene King passed away peacefully after a long battle with Dementia at age 88 on June 10, 2023 at Shawnee Care Center.

She was born on March 4, 1935 in Long Beach, California where she lived many years before moving to San Pedro, California.  There she met her future husband, Gantt, in 1964, who was in the Air Force and they married in 1969.  They were transferred to North Carolina and then to Michigan, where they retired from the Air Force in January 1976 and moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma to be near family.

She enjoyed crafting, Nascar Racing, gardening and she loved her dogs.

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She is survived by her sister, Sandy Ehrle of Shawnee, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Joyce Ehrle of South Fork, Colorado, son Joe King of Nashua, New Hampshire, grandson, Vincent of Tulsa, Oklahoma and stepdaughter, Torey King of Thiensville, New Jersey.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, June 14^th from 12 pm – 5 pm and Thursday, June 15^th from 8 am – 5 pm.

The family would like to thank the director, Judy, charge nurse, Debbie and other staff at the Shawnee Care Center for taking such good care of Shirley while in their care.
