Shirley Mae (Dees) Summers, resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021. She was 80 years old. A funeral ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00am at the Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, OK. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memorial Park. Shirley’s family will be available to greet friends from 5-6pm on Wednesday, May 26th at the funeral home. Shirley was born on September 25, 1940 in Bee, Oklahoma to her parents, Edger Ralph Dees, Jr. and Ruby Mae Kinnear-Bouse. She graduated from Chandler High School and continued her schooling to become a nurse. Shirley enjoyed traveling and was part of a missionary team that helped the residents of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. She also worked for the Department of Environmental Quality in Oregon. On November 7, 2009, Shirley married Warren Lewis Summers at the First Baptist Church in Meeker, Oklahoma. Shirley was a member of the Women’s American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the Chandler Historical Museum. Faith was important to Shirley as she was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She will be greatly missed by her sons, Clifford Edwin Wright, Jr. and wife Brenda of Stroud, OK and Kevin Lynn Wright and wife Nancy of Victoria, KS, husband, Warren Lewis Summers of Shawnee, OK, granddaughter, Bailey Erin Clovis and husband Chipper of Davenport, OK, grandson, Gage Wright of Stroud, OK and great-grandson, Banks Christopher Clovis of Davenport, OK. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Eugene Wright and her parents, Ruby Mae Dees and Edger Ralph Dees, Jr. Those who knew Shirley will remember her by her kindness, generosity, love, and faith. “Heavenly Father, I will always be kind in my ways to everyone around me. I desire that when I leave the Earth I will be remembered for being someone who expressed your love, not someone who inflicted pain on others.
