Stephen Maurice Elliott, of Shawnee, passed away on June 15, 2024 after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. Steve was born in Germany on March 15, 1961 to Joe Bob and Waltraud (Trudy) Elliott. He has two brothers, Robert and Jeffrey. Steve graduated from Shawnee High School in 1979. He went on to continue his education and basketball career at Sterling College in Kansas. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and started his career as a technician with Hitachi Instruments. He finished his career with Roche Diagnostics as a Senior Project Manager where many benefitted from his training and guidance. He married the love of his life, Karen Lynch, on September 8, 1984 and they welcomed their son and greatest accomplishment, Jacob Bryant Elliott, into the world on November 29, 1987.
Steve was a man of integrity and a rock for his family. He might have lived by John Wayne’s quote of “talk low, talk slow, and don’t say too much,” but our man of few words provided the wittiest one liners, brilliant problem solving skills, and a steadfastness that was relied upon to the end of his days. Steve enjoyed many things in life. He was a talented and perfectionistic wood worker, the biggest OKC Thunder fan, a lover of westerns and sci-fi movies, a motorcycle stud, an extraordinary shot, a crossword puzzle pro, and a patient fisherman. Thankfully, he shared many of these hobbies with his family and provided countless cherished memories. His greatest joy in life was being a father and Popsy.
He will be missed every day. We take comfort in knowing that in Heaven, he is eternal.
Steve is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Jacob and daughter-in-love, Jessica Elliott; three grandchildren, brothers, Robert and Jeff Elliott and numerous other beloved family members.
A service for Stephen will be held Friday, July 12th at 3:30 PM at Walker Funeral Home in Shawnee. Favorite sports team or casual attire is encouraged.
