Steven "Craig" Ansell

Steven “Craig” Ansell, 55, of Shawnee, lost his battle with cancer Sunday, April 29th 2018.Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 4th at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee with Dr. Todd Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.Craig was born in Oklahoma City on September 19th 1962 to John & Cherrill Ansell. He achieved the honor of Eagle Scout in 1979. He was a 1981 graduate of Shawnee High School, where he played football, baseball, and the trombone. He went on to attend Rose State College.After six years of dating, he married his high school sweetheart, Susan Austin, on July 14th 1984. Craig was the owner and operator of Austin Athletic Manufacturing Company, where we proudly designed, built, and sold Austin Football Equipment. He worked under his father-in-law, Orville Austin, for 16 years before taking over for the next 19. Craig enjoyed playing church softball and coaching baseball. He was a youth baseball coach for 9 years and served as Shawnee Youth Baseball president.Craig was a wonderful and dedicated father of three and proudly supported his kids in everything they did. He enjoyed the outdoor life, building and making things with his hands, and traveling with family. Since his childhood, Craig was an avid Star Trek and science fiction fan. He was passionate about OU Football and Astros Baseball and loved spending Saturdays at the games. He will always be remembered for his lighthearted and loving spirit, storytelling, and making everyone around him laugh.He was preceded in death by his father, John D.
