Former Shawnee resident Terry Lynn Peltier (Native American Name: M’Ko Wabje’ge (Bear Watching Over), 70, passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 in New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be at Walker Funeral Service on Friday from 5pm to 7pm.Funeral Mass will be 10:00am Saturday, September 14, 2017 at St. Benedict Catholic Church with burial to follow at Tecumseh Cemetery. Terry was born February 16, 1949 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Raymond Paul Peltier and Mildred Frances (Thacker) Peltier. He graduated from Dale High School and attended Murray State in Tishomingo and served 4 years in the United States Navy. He married Cynthia (Schoolmeyer) on April 25, 1998. He worked for the Citizen Potawatomi Nation in the Transportation Dept. and later the Housing Authority for 14 years and had recently moved back to New Orleans. He enjoyed his job as a DJ at parties and on the radio, he was an avid O.U. football fan, and was a gifted wood carver. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his Wife: Cynthia Peltier of New Orleans,3 Children: Tracy Peltier of Shawnee,Terry Don Peltier and wife Amber of Prague,Brandee Smith and husband Bret of Shawnee,Grandchildren: Logan, Joshua, and Mason Peltier,Austin Peltier and wife Kaitlyn, Kylie, Jorja, and Talon Peltier,Layla and Atticus Smith,1 Brother: Darel Grothaus,Step-Children: Vicki (Heiss) Sullivan,Henry Arthur Heiss,Gretchen Lynn Heiss,Step-Grandchildren: Hank Heiss, Hugh Heiss, Casey Sullivan, and Lauren Sullivan,And several other family members and friends.
