Thelbert Robert "Bob" Tomlinson

Shawnee resident Bob Tomlinson, 87, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 in Shawnee.

Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Walker Funeral Chapel with Rev. Larry Sparks officiating.

Bob was born September 23, 1936 in Shawnee, OK, to Jack Samuel Tomlinson and Walsie W. (Jordan) Tomlinson. He grew up in Tecumseh and at age 12 got his first job as a newspaper carrier with his own route.  He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1954. After graduating, he and his dad, Jack, worked together for the County. Next Bob became Head Electrician for the City of Tecumseh. He was also a volunteer fireman for many years. While working for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, he attended night classes at O.B.U. taking some accounting courses for an upcoming endeavor. In 1971 he began Bob’s Electric in Shawnee as both owner and operator. He married Jan (Goins) in Texas in 1972. Bob’s Electric sponsored a little league baseball team which Bob coached. Two team members were Danny and Bryan. Bob’s Electric celebrated it’s 50 year anniversary in 2021 under the ownership of son, Bryan, with help from grandsons Bryan Robert and Dustin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Thelma Hardin, a brother: Jesse “Dick” Tomlinson, and an infant brother: Glenn Tomlinson.

Survivors include his wife Jan Tomlinson of the home, 4 sons: Bryan Wayne Tomlinson and Kelly of Tecumseh, Robert Samuel Tomlinson and Melissa of TX, Daniel Ted Schooley and Sally of TX, and George William Schooley and Sonja of AZ,  8 grandchildren: Bryan Robert and Julia Tomlinson of Tecumseh, Dustin Wayne and Audrie Tomlinson of Tecumseh, Madison McBrayer of Idabel, Abigale Grace Tomlinson of TX, Christian Logan Tomlinson of TX, Kayla Lopez of TX, Kris Schooley of TX, Devin Neaves of AZ, and Ty Humpres of AZ,  2 great-grandchildren: Sean Lopez and Samantha Lopez of TX, 1 brother: John Lynn Tomlinson and Virginia of Shawnee, a sister-in-law: Janice P. Tomlinson and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
