Shawnee resident Thelma Lou Brown, 93, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at her home. Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 13, 2021 at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Thelma Lou was born July 28, 1928 in Maysville, Oklahoma to Fredrick Elmer Ford and Rena Marie (Franklin) Ford. She married James “Sonny” Brown on February 1, 1946. She spent most of her life as a housewife and homemaker but had also worked at the S&H Green Stamp Store, Hancock Fabric, and the Sylvania Plant. She was a longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was very active in her Sunday School Class and also enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons: James and Joe Brown, and 2 brothers: Donald and Orville Ford. Survivors include 1 granddaughter: Shelli Richards and husband Adam of Shawnee, 2 great grandchildren: Destini and Drake Richards, 1 sister: Joyce Fern Martin of OKC, and several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
