Thomas "Tommy" Eaton, 72, of Newalla, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 8, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee, with Doug Melton officiating.

Tommy was born June 30, 1946, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, to John L. and Veral (Warford) Eaton.  He graduated from Shawnee High school in 1965.  He then continued his education at Seminole State College.  On October 7, 1967, Tommy married Keithie Moydell at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma.  Tommy served as a sharpshooter in the US Army from 1967 to 1971. After his discharge, he worked for the Soil Conservation until he began his career with Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in 1969. He worked his way from digging ditches to retiring as the Regional Manager-West Region in 2006.  Tommy was a long-time member of ONGOERS of Shawnee and Oklahoma City, founding member of Shawnee Youth Baseball, Shawnee Kiwanis and Lions Club.  Tommy also spent time volunteering with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, coaching and umpiring youth baseball.  Tommy was an avid bowler and won the Shawnee City tournament in 1984.  He was a very skilled woodworker and carpenter.  He and Keithie enjoyed gardening, fishing and chasing baseball games together.  Tommy loved traveling with family, golfing and having the nicest yard on the block.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Keithie Eaton, daughter Shelly Eaton Palmer of Mcloud, Oklahoma, son Chad Eaton of Mcloud, Oklahoma, grandsons Jarod Palmer of Newalla, Oklahoma, Nathan Eaton of Mcloud, Oklahoma, granddaughter Brittney Eaton of Muskogee, Oklahoma, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
