Tecumseh resident TJ Lamirand, 94, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019 in Tecumseh. The family will receive friends at Walker Funeral Service on Thursday from 6-7pm.Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 10, 2019 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
TJ was born June 3, 1924 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas the son of Oscar and Lillie Mae (Newell) Lamirand. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He worked as a civil engineer technician for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Soil Conservation, retiring in 1982. He later worked for Jim Stacy Surveying Co. On April 26, 1946 he married Deloris Patterson. After her death, he later married Winona Geraldine (Shorter) on August 18, 2006. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, VFW, and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Deloris, and several siblings and in-laws.
Survivors include his wife: Winona Geraldine “Jerrie” Lamirand of Tecumseh, three sons: Thomas Jackson Lamirand of Perry, Gerald Ray Lamirand and wife Kathy of Independence, LA, Charles Michael Lamirand and wife Georgia of Edmond, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
