Vernon Thomas McLaughlin

Shawnee resident Vernon Thomas McLaughlin, 83, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2020 in Shawnee.

Vernon was born June 6, 1937 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Robert and Goldie McLaughlin. He graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955. He then served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and then in the reserves until 1963. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992 after 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives: Linda and Leona, brothers: R.D., George, and Howard McLaughlin, granddaughter: Stephanie McLaughlin, a sister: Mildred Edmonds, and step-grandson: Trevor Handel.

Survivors include Son: Bob McLaughlin of Meeker, OK daughter: Laura Robbins and husband Lester of Asher, OK, step-daughter: Margaret Handel Weeks and husband Glen of Salt Lake City, Utah, granddaughter: Kelsey Robbins, step-granddaughters: Juli Hunt, Ranae Handel, Nicole Handel, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, other family and friends.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Tecumseh Cemetery.
