Walden Lee Soderstrom, 84, of Shawnee, Oklahoma entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 29, 2017. He was born September 27, 1932 in Chandler, Oklahoma the son of Floyd and Ruby Soderstrom, the sixth of ten children. After graduating from Chandler High School in 1950, Walden joined the United States Air Force where he served as a cryptographer during the Korean War. For service to his country he received the United Nations service Medal, Korean Service Medal, ROK President Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Following his discharge from the Air Force, he met and married Jerlena Jackson on November 16, 1955. Walden spent the bulk of his career working as a store manager for National Supply. Walden’s great love was his wife of 61 years. They were seldom separated. He was an avid gardener who took great pleasure in experimenting with new techniques such as grafting pecan trees. He also enjoyed working with wood. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jerlena and eight grandchildren. Walden is preceded in death by his three children: Walden Lee Soderstrom, Jr., Ruby Gale Soderstrom, and Daniel Wayburn Soderstrom. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 5th, 2017 in the First Baptist Church of Prague located at 1520 Bluebell Rd., Prague, OK.
