Wayman Eugene Cook

April 8, 1937 — January 28, 2022

Long-time Shawnee resident, Wayman Cook, 84, left this life for his Heavenly home on January 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Wayman was born April 8, 1937, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Ethel and Floyd Cook. He graduated from Dale High School in 1955. He was in the Army Reserve, serving for six years. Wayman retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company after 37 years of service and belonged to the ONG Ongoers organization. Wayman loved spending time with his family and was a beloved Papaw. He and Linda often vacationed in Colorado where Wayman always had luck at the casino. From his teens, he enjoyed cars and took pride in keeping them looking like new. Wayman leaves behind many loved ones who hold cherished memories of his kindness and generosity. Among them are his loving wife, Linda Cook, of the home; daughter Leslie; daughter Scarlett Tobin and husband Doug; sisters Carolyn Stuart and Leda Glenn and husband Dennis; granddaughter Lauren Brakebill and husband Jerry; grandsons Spencer and Sebastian Talbot, and Zane Tobin; two precious great-grandchildren, Halie and Bryson; brothers-in-law Bud and Frank Smika, and numerous other relatives and friends He was proceeded in death by his parents, a son, Rick Brakebill; sisters Phyllis Cook and Charlotte Hall; and brother Warren Cook. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 1, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Schwartz officiating. Prayer Service will be Monday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Shawnee.
